Children learn new words and phrases through reading. Through books, they can enjoy different types of stories and gain useful information about many subjects too. The more children read and are read to, the better they become at reading. I find time to read storybooks to 1F pupils and encourage them to borrow them home. I was amazed when Xuan Yi volunteered to share her favourite book with the class. I am proud of her confidence.
Today, we visited the school library for the first time. It was an exciting experience for 1F pupils as they explored and browsed through the interesting books. I am heartened by their enthusiasm. We will visit the school library every Thursday and the children can borrow books once their school smart card is ready. 1F pupils, do remember the library rules - no food and drinks; handle the books with care and read quietly.
