Printmaking - Monotype Printing

This week, we started experimenting with printmaking using paint. I gave each pupil 2 colours to be spread cross the drawing paper evenly. Then, we used an ice-cream stick to scrap away some of the paint on the paper to create a design. I can see that the children were keen to explore and experiment with creating marks on the paper. Some squealed in delight when they discovered another layer of paint under the 1st layer after they scraped off some of the paint.
Pupils were to place another piece of paper over the painted one so that the design created is transferred onto the 2nd one. Everyone had a great time during the activity. I am happy to see the children enjoy the printmaking lesson without fear of making mistakes. Like one of my P3 pupils said, "Art is enjoyment".

When the lesson ended, I was very touched when I saw 1F children take their own initiative to help one another to put their artworks on the drying rack as well as to clean up the mess while others who needed more time carried on with their printmaking. There were no words communicated among them as they worked together to keep the art room clean and tidy. I am very proud of 1F children's considerate act.
